Looking for Equality and Solidarity
Social justice is based on the concepts of human rights and equality, and include some basic liberties, such as freedom of thought, political liberties, freedom of association and rights and liberties covered by the law. Are academics doing enough to correct the vast number of social injustices in the world? Nowadays everyone knows their rights, but few recognise their responsibilities.
We organise events to try to help correct these social injustices in the world, and to try to help create a fairer society worldwide. (By Fiona and Nadia)
"Solidarity does not assume that our struggles are the same struggles, or that our pain is the same pain, or that our hope is for the same future. Solidarity involves commitment, and work, as well as the recognition that even if we do not have the same feelings, or the same lives, or the same bodies, we do live on common ground." - Sarah Ahmed
